Aquafari Curaçao
Drive your own bright-yellow underwater scooter along the reef at Boka Sami for 45 minutes — no diving or swimming experience required.
Drive your own underwater scooter along the reef
The Aquafari is an underwater scooter that gives you access to Curaçao's underwater world without needing to dive or even swim. Your head stays dry inside a large glass dome that continuously receives air — so you breathe normally, exactly as you would on the beach. Meanwhile you steer your bright-yellow scooter over the coral reef and spot tropical fish, starfish, coral and — if you're lucky — a turtle or stingray.
The tour departs from Boka Sami Beach (Canoaweg 11) on the south coast, about a 25-minute drive from our villa at the Spanish Water. The full activity takes around 2 hours, of which 45 minutes are spent underwater. You're guided by certified Aquafari divers, so the experience is safe and clearly explained.
No experience needed
No swimming, no diving. Anyone over 1.20 m / 4 ft tall can join.
Your head stays dry
Fresh air flows continuously into the glass dome. You breathe and see as normal.
Tropical reef life
Parrotfish, coral, starfish — sometimes turtles or barracudas.
How an Aquafari tour works
From check-in to back on the dock — the full tour takes about 2 hours.
Check-in & briefing
Arrive 15 minutes early at Boka Sami. You'll watch a short video and the guide will explain the scooter controls in person.
Boat to the reef
A 5-minute boat ride takes you out to the dive spot on the reef. The guide gives a quick overview of what you'll see underwater.
45 minutes underwater
You descend via a short ladder and grab your scooter. Two divers guide you along a route across the coral reef. Head stays dry, breathing as normal.
Return & souvenirs
Back on the boat and a short ride to shore. Optional: pictures and video taken by the dive team during your tour — a perfect souvenir.

Tips & what to bring
Reef-safe sunscreen
You'll be out for 2 hours — apply eco-friendly sunscreen before entering the water. Regular sunscreen harms coral.
Towel & dry clothes
You barely get wet, but having dry clothes nearby is convenient for getting in and out.
Cash for tip & souvenirs
The dive crew works hard — tips are appreciated. Photos and videos are usually paid in cash.
Flip-flops are fine
No water shoes needed. Flip-flops or bare feet are perfectly fine.
No phones underwater
The dive team takes the photos and videos. A personal GoPro in a housing is allowed.
Drink water before
It can get warm under the glass dome. Being well-hydrated helps.
Just 25 minutes from 3 Palabrua at the Spanish Water
Our villa 3 Palabrua sits right on the Spanish Water in Jan Sofat. From here you're at Boka Sami in about 25 minutes by car — leave relaxed in the morning and be back at the pool by afternoon. Aquafari combines well with a day at the Grote Knip or snorkelling at Playa Lagun.
